Wei Wuxian's face blanches to stark white and he reaches out a hand to steady himself on a wall. At first, he's too numb with shock and disbelief to react. Shijie was supposed to be here! She was supposed to be safe! And then next comes anger. What the hell had the disciples been thinking, just letting her go like that? They were supposed to protect her, not help her go off to her doom!

The way he speaks her title is filled with such grief and despair that it might seem pretty startling when Wei Wuxian immediately bursts into action, running around the house and packing supplies for another journey. That he's exhausted and in no condition to suddenly launch a rescue mission on the spot isn't entering his mind, at all.
Only one thought is consuming his mind right now and that's saving their sister from that beast in the ruins. He has to fix this. He has to bring her back home where she belongs.
