Wei Ying kisses back, his breathing quickening along with the pace. His hands move restlessly all over Lan Zhan, just savoring the fact that he's alive and with once more. Afterward, he's bound to have questions and Wei Ying will do his best to answer them but for now, he's just going to enjoy their lovemaking.

"I'm so happy you're back," he whispers, rocking his hips into his lover's thrusts. "I've been so lonely..."

Feelings he kept denying to himself.

The words just push him to move that much faster, his fingers digging into Wei Ying's hips as he teeth find another spot on his neck, sucking a mark after he bites.

And his thrusts drive into Wei Ying, one hand shifting to stroke him, his grip tight as his hand slides over the shaft.

His gasps fill the air, punctuated by ragged groans, as his nails scratch slowly down Lan Zhan's back. It really has been too long. Between Lan Zhan's thrusts and his stroking hand, Wei Ying's ratcheting toward and over that edge much sooner than tends to be typical for him.

"Lan Zhan," he moans as he comes.

So much for drawing this union out and savoring it.

His hand stills but it takes him several more thrusts before he joins Wei Ying, just lying on top of him lips brushing against his jaw briefly as he lets his breathing slow.

"...Talk." Because he knows there's a lot Wei Ying needs to talk about.

They're both a mess at the moment but Wei Ying holds him close in a way that's both possessive and protective anyway. Now that the moment's come to start speaking about their history, he freezes a little, uncharacteristically flustered, and unsure of where to even begin. In the past, Wei Ying's tried to pace things out a bit, introduce their relationship to him slowly. He usually asks him out on a few dates before jumping headlong into inviting him to his place and everything that entails.

And after calling Lan Zhan his husband in the middle of sex, he can't exactly backpedal and say he was kidding. It'd probably hurt his feelings and serve no purpose besides alienation. And he's so over trying to hide things for no other reason than to hide them.

"I... Well. It's.... complicated to explain but you really are my husband. Or at least, you were before! I don't like to presume too much when I first meet you. You know, in case you ever change your mind. Not that I really expect you to because you never do. For some reason, you still want to be with me when I ask and I don't know why."

He stops his nervous babbling to take a breath.

"But, um, I'm not a college student. I mean, I am but not like others on campus? I've been to this school a lot, every few generations I come back because I don't age and don't want anyone to recognize me. I like school and I like learning! And I need to stay up to date on technology and customs so I keep coming back. There's a bunch of others that I go to, too, so I move around a lot..."

Finally, he trails off, out of air again.

He lets Wei Ying talk himself out as he moves slowly, pulling away and just picking him up take him upstairs before he asks any more questions and to give him a moment to think. Dropping him on the bed, Wangji follows, pinning him again with a kiss before.

"..Start at the beginning. Slower."

He stretches out comfortably on the bed beneath him. It's a king sized canopy bed with red curtains and comforter that's vaguely reminiscent of a traditional marriage bed. It's for this reason that none of his other lovers were ever permitted to sleep with him here. Their couplings had always taken place elsewhere.

For a long moment, Wei Ying just stares up at Lan Zhan, studying his face closely. When he finally starts speaking, his words are quiet and carefully even.

"We've been together a really long time, Lan Zhan. Since ancient times. It's all just stories now but we lived it. We were cultivators like in the movies. And you were my husband."

His memory has always been faulty; that hasn't changed since achieving immortality. There's much about their first life that he simply doesn't remember anymore. At least, outside the moments directly related to them.

"...Our paths were different. I studied a dark, forbidden path. I learned to harness resentful energy, the energy of the dead. I wanted to put it to good use for the world. But I couldn't become immortal like you could. I didn't have a golden core. So I found another way but it changed me. My body is no longer human."

His fingers just idly stroke over Wei Ying's skin, listening intently, his gaze never leaving the other man's face, but he doesn't speak, just nods slightly for him to continue. His questions can wait until later.

"I don't remember how it happened. My memory has always been really bad. You would think I'd remember something so important but I don't remember at all. All I remember is you died and I lived on. And kept living on."

Wei Ying cuddles closer to him. He doesn't like thinking or talking about what life had been like after Lan Zhan had died but he's willing to try for his lover's sake. So he'll know what he's getting into with him.

"...It was a dark, lonely time. The light, it was like there was nothing left. I couldn't go on without you but I had to. I thought that if I did that I might see you again someday."

His voice shakes with remembered grief as he speaks and here he has to stop, just burying his face against Lan Zhan's chest.

Fingers thread through his hair, Wangji letting his eyes close, his other arm just wrapping around Wei Ying. "...I'm here." It's quiet, his fingers stroking over Wei Ying's side.

"Not going anywhere."

"You will eventually," he says sadly. "You'll grow old and you'll die and I'll be just as you see me now. It's been this way for thousands of years."

Wei Ying's become an expert at losing Lan Zhan. Not so much with keeping him by his side for eternity.

"I've lost you more times than I can recall. Our times together have been so brief.... yet they would seem like forever to a mortal."

But short-lived as they were, they'd been the happiest times of his life. Wei Ying hadn't been alone; he'd been loved.

"But life is always so good when I am with you. When I'm with you, I almost feel human again. I'll never turn you away no matter how much it hurts to let you go. You're worth it."

Here he goes again, spouting emotional nonsense like a lovesick fool but it's how he's always been when it comes to Lan Zhan. Most of the wisdom and sense he's accumulated over the years goes out the window like it never existed in the first place.

"...And if I don't want to leave you?" His fingers catch Wei Ying's chin as he leans in to kiss him, again, blanketing him with his own body.

He's heard it before and in the end, there hasn't been a solution. Still, Wei Ying kisses him back, taking comfort in the weight and warmth of Lan Zhan on top of him.

"We can try if that's what you want."

Try being together again, try finding a remedy to their situation, he could mean either. Wei Ying doesn't really care what they do with this life anymore so long as he's with Lan Zhan in whatever way he can be.

"I still love you so much. I always will."

"I will stay with you." Fingers slide through his hair as his eyes close.

"Oh, Lan Zhan, you're still so young..."

It's a weak protest at best, his cheeks are a little pink, but he's happy, nonetheless. Selfish as he is, his life's better with Lan Zhan in it than it is without it. And Lan Zhan never listened to any of his insistences that he seek someone normal in the past.

"But I'm glad that you still want to be with me despite everything. You're... really special to me."

The love of his long, seemingly infinite life despite his attempts to convince himself otherwise to try an cope with his husband's mortality.

"Doesn't matter." His hands frame Wei Ying's face as he leans in to kiss him, the kiss demanding as his fingers slide into Wei Ying's hair.

"Mine."

Wei Ying kisses back. It's clear that Lan Zhan's made his choice (again) and after thousands of years, he knows better than to try to talk him out of it. Once his husband's mind is made up about him, it's near impossible to change it.

"Yours," he agrees. If nothing else, he can promise him that, as long as Lan Zhan lives and breathes, he'll never take another lover, even to feed. Not without his husband's permission.

"There's something else you need to know. Something that I haven't told you yet."

He holds him somewhat nervously, even he feels it's silly. Lan Zhan's always been understanding about his needs before. Why would it change now when so far, nothing else has?

"Whatever I've become feeds on energy, Lan Zhan. If I don't, I lose my consciousness. I become feral, a monster than preys on the weak and helpless for survival. I can't control my urges and lash out."

"..Use me." His hand smooths over Wei Ying's back, his fingers tracing up the line of his spine slowly.

"Take care of you myself."

Wei Ying chuckles. So impetuous! Here, Lan Zhan's already agreeing to let him feed on without first hearing about the process. Not that it's an unpleasant one at all. Just one that can be very draining on the energy reserves after a while.

"So hasty, Lan Zhan!"

For a moment, he just gazes at him adoringly, smiling softly before pecking him on the mouth.

"I think you'll enjoy the feedings. They're quite a lot of fun. And you've already experienced a bit of what it's like tonight. I didn't feed on you this time. Next time I might wear you out."

It's doubtful though. Lan Zhan's always had amazing stamina in bed and it's not as if Wei Ying feeds every single session, only when there's a legitimate risk he might go berserk if left unchecked.

"Mine." His fingers dig in slightly before he's turning that quick peck into more, his hands sliding back to Wei Ying's sides. And when he breaks the kiss, it's to mouth spots on his neck, sucking marks onto his skin.

"My responsibility to take care of you."

So possessive! Not that Wei Ying's bothered by it. It's just the way Lan Zhan is, how he's alway been. It's really very cute and endearing, especially when he knows how fragile mortal claims of ownership can be. Not even the earth goes on belonging to the same people forever.

But if Lan Zhan wants to take care of him, he's not going to reject him. It feels nice, being taken care of. And it's not as if it's ever one-sided. Wei Ying does his best to care for him as well. He's acquired a small fortune in his time on earth. Lost a few of them, too, due to times changing while he slept.

"All right. I'll let you take care of me but you have to let me look after you, too. That's the condition. I'm older and wiser and you should respect your elders!"

His tone's half joking. Slightly distracted, too, as his Lan Zhan continues leaving marks on his neck.

"And we should go to bed soon! We both have class in the morning and our professors will expect to see us."

And now he's just rambling nonsense. The only classes he goes to half the time are the ones he shares with Lan Zhan. Most of his professors don't really except Wei Ying to show up at all.

"Older maybe." He concedes before his lips trail down, biting at his collarbone before he sucks a mark there. "I won't miss class for this." But he's not ready to sleep yet either, hands wandering again, stroking over pale skin as his mouth follows a different path, tongue flicking against a nipple.

It's to be expected that Lan Zhan would still be wound up. It's a lot to take in for one night but it's been a long time for him, too. Even if his mind doesn't consciously remember, his soul does. At least, that's what it seems like to Wei Ying so he's willing to indulge, let him reclaim his territory any way he sees fit.

It's hardly an unpleasant experience, permitting Lan Zhan to remap his body with his hands, lips, and tongue. He moans softly, winding his hand in his lover's hair.

"And what is this, Lan Zhan? Tell me your thoughts on all of this? You haven't said much... Not that you usually do."

There's hint of laughter and affectionate warmth in his tone. His Lan Zhan's never been much of a talker but that doesn't mean he doesn't have things to say.

"But I'm thankful you haven't called me crazy and walked out the door."
