So clingy! But it's always been a part of his charm and after all this time, Wei Ying really wouldn't have him any other way. He really woudn't know what to do with his day if he didn't plan it around his husband's separation anxiety. And after what had happened in the Underground, Wei Ying can't really fault him. His own memories of that event are foggy to nonexistent but his brother-in-law had filled in plenty of blanks for him.

He'd nearly died in Lan Zhan's arms that day. Since waking up from his coma, what energy that hasn't been devoted to his recovery has gone to restoring and maintaining their relationship.

I know. But we're gonna have to talk about this when we get home, Lan Zhan. I'm being good. I'm staying out of trouble.

Wei Ying gives him a gentle, reassuring kiss. That girl really hadn't been a threat to either of them but the least he can do for Lan Zhan now is be patient.

I'm safe now. With you.

It's not something that needs to be talked about, not really. He does manage to let him go about his business, but it doesn't change the fact that he's never truly relaxe without Wei Ying where he can see him. Touch him.

You think I should let you go? It's very soft, something pained behind the words that he can't quite keep to himself.

That you need more space?

"No, that's not it at all. I don't want out and I don't need more space," he blurts out, stepping forward to hug him tight.

After everything we've been through together, there's no one else for me but you. There never will be.

Lan Zhan's just so many thing to him - lover, husband, best friend, and partner to name a few.

"I guess I just worry a little about you sometimes, Lan Zhan."

It's not rational but when has the love between them ever been rational?

No need to worry. His head drops, lips pressing against Wei Ying's hair as he closes his eyes, arms tight around Wei Ying.

I have all I need, Wei Ying.

He doesn't get it. Maybe Wei Ying never will. What Lan Zhan sees in a screw up like him is beyond his understanding, as grateful as he is to be loved so deeply. He doesn't deserve him at all, especially after all the pain and heartache he's put him through. Could still put him through someday, thanks to the hardware installed in his head.

As long as you're safe and happy, Lan Zhan.

He kisses him, lingering for a while before finally murmuring.

"Home."

He follows that kiss with one more before taking him to the car so they can go home. Once there, his first stop is the bathroom to fill the tub.

The night out was fun and all but Wei Ying's quite ready to settle in for the remainder of the evening. Maybe he's getting old or he's just not quite completely recovered from that decade long nap - either way, he's more tired than he expected to be after just one evening of dancing and drinking.

He's already in the process of taking off his boots in the bedroom when he hears the water running. He smiles. A nice, warm bath together certainly does sound rather nice. He finishes stripping out of his clubbing clothes and puts on his favorite cozy red bathrobe. Even after practically living in it at the hospital, he's still rather attached to it and find it comfortable to wear around the house.

After taking a couple of minutes to put his clothes in the laundry hamper and fetch a fresh pair of boxers, Wei Ying heads into the bathroom to see how that bath is coming.

By the time he's finally joining Wangji in the bathroom, he's already turned the water off and is seated in the water, waiting for Wei Ying to join him, his eyes half closed as he lets the heat soak into him.

Wei Ying takes off his robe, letting it fall to the floor before climbing into the tub. He lowers himself carefully into the water, positioning himself between Lan Zhan's legs so he can lean back in the other man's chest.

Once he's comfortable, he just sits there resting and enjoying the heat and closeness for what they are.

These are probably some of his favorite moments, if he had to pick any. Wangji leans forwad slightly ,pressing a kiss to the top of his head before just relaxing and letting his eyes close.

As is typical when things get to be too quiet, after a while Wei Ying suddenly murmurs a question, glancing around for a washcloth.

"When did you first realize you loved me, Lan Zhan?"

[abstains]

His fingers twitch slightly, his expression shifting from content to something else, arm tightening around Wei Ying.

...Back when we were in school together, your first year there. You remember that year.

That early?

His tone's a little surprised but then Lan Zhan's arm tightens around him. He does remember that year, though. At least, he remembers the incidents he's referring to.

"...Jiang Cheng?"

It hadn't been his finest year, managing to alienate Lan Zhan right off the bat and mess up his relationship with his foster brother in a way Wei Ying hasn't been able to repair. Getting involved with Jiang Cheng that way had turned out to be every bit as much of a mistake as he'd suspected it would be.

But as one door had shut, perhaps permanently, another had opened in its place.

"Yes." He doesn't go into detail, doesn't need to. They both know what happened that year with Jiang Wanyin and how it had ended.

You were so different...I didn't like it.

[afterthemoment]

"I didn't think you liked me much before that either. You really surprised me back then."

Intervening with Jiang Cheng, offering him a sanctuary on campus where he could breathe without his brother suffocating him, and then in the end physically protecting Wei Ying.

"I think I felt something for you, too, in those days. You were always so nice to me. You helped me."

He'd been in way over his head with Jiang Cheng and hadn't know how to handle the situation at all.

"You needed me." It's very quiet, his hand smoothing over Wei Ying's stomach and chest, curling around his neck lightly to tilt his head back so he can kiss at the corner of his mouth.

And I needed you to be yourself..

He had needed him. More than he'd realized. His world that been tilting chaotically, on the verge of capsizing totally. He loved Jiang Cheng still, even know, as a brother and a friend but adopted sibling had made it painfully clear just what he'd thought of those feelings at the time.

Wei Ying and Lan Zhan had become inseparable after that, even it had still taken him an absurd time to realize and acknowledge they were more than just friends.

He tilts his head so he can kiss him more fully.

I love you. I don't regret choosing you.

I love you too, and I will always choose you. He kisses back, one hand cupping the back of Wei Ying's head as he does so.

He's lucky. So lucky to be alive. So lucky to have a home and a chance to spend the rest of his life with this wonderful man. Lan Zhan's closer to him than anyone's ever been and having him so near doesn't scare him at all. His trust in him is absolute, regardless of the mishap that had occurred in the Underground so many years ago.

After the kiss breaks, Wei Ying gets up and turns to face him, the soft expression belying the intensity in the gaze he turns on his lover. He just loves this man so much, more than he can propely express in just words alone.

He resettles in the tub, this time straddling his husband's lap as he dips his head to kiss him again.

You're perfect.

His soulmate.

Wei Ying shifting positions just has his hands sliding down to his husband's backside, fingers smoothing over his cheeks as he kisses him back, dragging it out slowly, savoring the tast of Wei Ying's mouth.

Only when I'm with you

They'd had a long enough breather, Wei Ying thinks as he starts grinding in his husband's lap a bit, keeping the kiss slow and deep. It wasn't that long ago that they'd had each other at the club and he's ready to go again. If it was physically possible for them to spend every waking moment on lovemaking, Wei Ying would devote himself to pursuit of that goal.

You say the sweetest things, you know that? Is it any wonder I'm utterly crazy about you?

Even if he doesn't completely understand what it is about himself that keeps Lan Zhan so enamored, he makes him feel like he's worth something and he likes that feeling.

One hand settles on a hip, fingers digging in as the other slips between them, wraps around them both and strokes slowly, his eyes opening to watch Wei Ying once they break the kiss.

I love you.

Always.

He's gotten so sappy since settling down. They both have, really. He doesn't really have anyone in his life but his husband anymore. His brother-in-law to some extent. He studies Lan Zhan's face, groaning at the pleasant friction between them. Wei Ying reaches behind and pushes a finger inside. Seeing that he's still fairly loose and relaxed from the club still, he quickly adds a second and third, working them in and out as he leans in and starts dropping soft kisses along Lan Zhan's jaw.

Wei Ying shifting like that has him watching his husband, gaze taking in every shift in his expression, savoring every sound he makes and his grip tightens just a little as his hand moves faster over their shafts.

Ready?

[afterthemoment]

Yes.

He really can't get anough; his hunger for this man never truly sates. Wei Ying's cups his husband's face in his hands, kissing him softly and sweetly, as he reaches down to pull Lan Zhan's hand away. He squeezes it once before letting to grab his cock and position it so the head's positioned at his entrance.

I want you in me.

And then he seats himself on it, moaning loudly as he sinks down onto him. That they're doing this in the bath just increases the sensuality of it.
